Harlaxton – Summer Open House
Join us this August Bank Holiday weekend as we open our gates for the whole family to enjoy at our Summer Open House. You’re invited to step into our magical staterooms and beautiful gardens. We’d love for you and all the family to join us for a wonderful weekend spent exploring the manor and its beautiful gardens.
Discover the Manors staterooms which were designed as a tour around Europe. Constructed in 1831, Harlaxton Manor is truly unique, combining Jacobean, Elizabethan, and Baroque styles to create a beautiful and awe-inspiring historic house. The Manor Gardens are some of Harlaxton’s most treasured features and our beautiful parkland is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the breath-taking scenery. With French terraces, an Italian garden, a Dutch canal and even an observatory, the formal gardens beside Harlaxton Manor are a feast for the senses. Manicured lawns, blooming flowers and sculpted trees decorate the rolling hills that wrap around the manor which creates a spectacular backdrop.
The gardens also include an incredible 19th century conservatory where orange trees and tropical plants grow, some of which were donated by the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew.
Traditional garden games for you and the little ones to enjoy as you wander the magnificent manor and gardens. Meanwhile, a pianist will be on-hand to uplift and inspire as you indulge in a selection of hot and cold refreshments available, including ice cream.
Throughout the year, Harlaxton Manor is home to international students from the University of Evansville’s who study in our spectacular surroundings and so we’re normally closed to visitors. As a result, we only open on certain dates throughout the year, making this a rare and exciting opportunity. You’ll even have the chance to meet some of our students and staff who love talking about the history and their experiences at Harlaxton.
